Astro Boy is a 2006 smokey black and white Gypsy Vanner stallion. His sire is the extraordinary Clononeen Mull of Kintyre (aka Romeo) and he is out of the elegant Clononeen Cladagh.
Astro's owners Jackie and Ken Kettler of Lucky Star Ranch in central Michigan bought Astro when he was a yearling from Desert Jewel Gypsy Horses (www.djwwgypsyhorses.com) and boy, they couldn't be happier!
Astro display's perfect Gypsy conformation starts with a lovely head and kind eyes attached to a strong, nicely arched neck overlooking a perfectly short back, sloping shoulder, powerful hips and a well muscled croup. Astro has plenty of bone and lots of feathering making him appear older then his mere 4 years.
In the summer of 2008 Jackie took Astro to his first two shows, and she was not left disappointed! The young stallion took 1st in his class at the Mecosta County Draft Show and then Reserve Champion Two Year Old Stallion at the Newago Draft Show at the Newago Fair. In 2009 Astro Boy attended both the Trufant, MI Labor Day Parade & the Howard City Harvest Parade and did very well! Astro Boy also participated in the Val Covell Benefit Show and placed second in both his classes.
Jackie and Ken had Astro started under saddle in the Fall of 2008 and are expecting to begin showing him under saddle in 2010!
Astro Boy was seen on the cover of Saddle Up! Magazine for the month of January 2009 and also in the 2008 & 2010 Special Edition of The Equine Journal's "The Romantic Breed", congratulations Jackie!
Astro Boy has a wonderful personality and is easy to handle, standing quietly even around mares and other stallions-he is simply a dream to own!
